I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4656
Anyways my laptop plays sound just fine from the internal speakers but if I plug in my headphones Sound does not come through the headphones but rather continues through the internal speakers.

I believe my issue is that my computer is not detecting it because when i go to sound options it only shows internal audio under my hardware profile

Hi Paradise

Open the mixer and see if there is a button to select the mixer controls.
Check to see if the slider for the headphones is muted or disabled.
If its muted, unmute it. if its disabled, enable it. Move the slider
up to increase the volume setting.

Also enclude which distro you are using. this helps us determine how to
best help you

ok Vanessa thank you for your reply it is unmuted and maxed out sorry i forgot to include my distro I ment to it completely slipped my mind.

I am running Fedora 11

$ speaker-test -c 2
# modprobe snd-hda-intel

Some cards have a separate channel for the headphone only. Which might only be seen in alsamixer. Or I could be wrong.

My sound still only comes from my internal speakers
