The first thing I would do is install pavucontrol (the Pulse Audio Mixer). It give more granular control of audio inputs, outputs, and devices than normal volume control programs. It's in the repos.

Also, when you say the audio is out, do you mean the built-in speakers, if present, don't work; the headphone plug doesn't work; or external speakers don't work? If there are no built-in speakers, have you tested with a different output device jacked in?

You might also boot to a Live CD/USB of a different distro and test the audio just to be thorough.

Just a few thoughts.

Pavucontrol

In pavucontrol, configuration tab, I have tried "Analog Stereo Output" and "Analog Stereo Duplex". None of those options allow any sound through the speakers, however, If I'm playing a youtube video, the "vumeter" bar, changes as if the sound were coming out. The headphones work fine.

In alsamixer I have Master, headphone, speaker and PCM enabled. None of the "S/PDiff N" are enabled.

Is there anything else I should try before changing distro?

Levels? Nothing muted?

I'm not a Linux Mint user, but is wirelplumber package installed in this version of LM? If so, see what is returned by the following command...
Code:
wplctl status
Otherwise run
Code:
pactl list sinks
and report back.
