no screens found when running X11 with DVI monitor on i810
Hello,
I am testing a custom version of Fedora 7 on an industrial PC.

The PC has Pentium M 1.8 GHz with 1 GB RAM with an Intel 82855GME (i810) graphics chip. It has two DVI ports with the secondary port disabled in the BIOS.
The graphics driver used is i915

When using a VGA monitor (with VGA to DVI adapter), X Windows starts and works fine. Hardware rendering and acceleration are enabled and working.
When using a DVI monitor (same one as with VGA), X Windows gives an error when starting.
The screen turns bright white and kicks me back into the terminal after about a second.

Here is what I tried to debug the issue:
1. Generate a new xorg.conf file.
2. Change DefaultDepth in xorg.conf from 24, to 16, 15, 8, 4, 1. I also removed DefaultDepth completely.
3. Added modes with hard-coded resolutions to SubSection "Display" - Modes "1680x1050" or Modes "800x600"
4. Changed video driver from i810 to intel (they are actually the same on this system, i810 is just a link to intel).
5. Tried different HorizSync and VertRefresh including removing them.
6. Disabled EDID in the BIOS.
7. Tested with two different DVI cables.
8. Tested with three different monitors.

xrandr reports that it "Can't open display" even after I assigned DISPLAY variable to 0:0.
The release versions of Fedora 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 work fine on both monitors after I rebuild xorg.conf file but I cannot see any noticeable difference between the files.
