No mouse cursor

Hi all.

Please help.
In the GUI, my mouse was working but without cursor.
I couldn't see any mouse movement, but if I clicked it,
the window manager's menu came out.
This has been happening since I changed the XF86Config to use "neomagic" driver. Before that, it was working properly
with "vesa" driver.

My system:
Toshiba laptop, video = neomagic.
Distro: Slackware 9.0.

Thanks.

Firstly, I'd check and see if neomagic's manufacturer has any linux drivers. Best way to do this is to google "Neomagic linux drivers". If this doesn't turn anything up, I would suggest going back to the vesa driver, at least for now. By the way, is the vesa driver giving you anything less in terms of graphics than the neomagic driver? If not, just stick with what works:)

Yes they have it. The evidence:
1. There was neomagic setting in the kernel config, and I turned it ON.
2. There was /lib/X11/modules/drivers/neomagic.o.
3. When I was using Redhat 8.0, before I changed to slack,
Redhat could automatically set it to neomagic and it was working no problem.

I would like to go back to vesa, but the "speeeed" is very difference bacause neomagic support hardware accell and frame buffer. I can feel it.

Hi.

Good news.
It's working now.
I added an option then everything back to normal.

Section "Device"
Identifier "NeoMagic"
Driver "neomagic"
VideoRam 4096
Option "sw_cursor"
EndSection

Thanks for the 'Google' hint.
I found the information from there.

Cheers.

Heh. Google is most definitely your friend. Congrats on getting it working. Now if I could just get an Intel 875 socket Gigabit LAN driver....
