No midis will play through my SB PCI 128 card

Hi. I use a Sound Blaster PCI 128 sound card. All sounds play from it in Windows. In Linux, most sound plays from it, except for MIDIs, even though the card appears to be registered as a MIDI device.

I am running Slackware Linux 10.2 with Linux Kernel 2.6.16.18. I have tried playing MIDI files in KDE through KMid, and by simply clicking "test MIDI" in KDE's sound configuration. Neither works. Even assigning a MIDI mapper does nothing. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Hate to double post...

I found out about Timidity, compiled it from source and installed it, and now midis play, but only at the command line. How do I get KDE to recognize Timidity and filter MIDIs through it?
