I am unable to locate any Linux drivers so that my Toshiba P870 PSPLBA-02700S will recognise the TV Tuner card in my Notebook. Yuan do provide drivers for Windows 7 and 8/8.1 but none for Linux.
So Notebook is Model Toshiba P870 PSPLBA-02700S
Tuner is Yuan MC782ML / PD782S
Error indicates no device found. I have done many searches on web with same outcome - no suitable Linux driver.
I find this very odd. because all there external, pci and pcie devices have been in the kernel since the 2.6.14 kernel wonder if there is a cross reference for that chip.
the tuner is on board and unable to find that chip name in the support. I got a feeling we need to really find out what chip it is based on. And then treat it as a pcie device. One step at a time.
Thanks for the info folks. I am going to endeavour to knock up my own driver but as and when I come across any more information or success I will repost. Thanks for the links by the way
You need to find the chipset that runs this and see if anyone has a driver for that chip. Tell us too what chip is is.
Telling us how it connects to the laptop also would help.
I've tried to make drivers before and it is possible if you have source files or find very similar model and test those sources for builds. It isn't an easy process without OEM support. If the OEM (and they won't) provides you with windows sources, you could back into a driver possibly.
