NO keyboard on Dyne Bolic at ALL
 

Good morning!

It's pretty rare to ask this sort of thing, but here goes!

I'm using the Dyne:bolic live CD, downloaded last week and it runs just fine. I hit 'Return' when the boot: prompt comes up and VOILA! A fast, Windowmaker desktop, all my harddrives, my network and Windows Shares - all works perfectly and flawlessly. QJackCTL, Ardour, Hydrogen, everything a budding home-recording musician could want.

EXCEPT: I have NO KEYBOARD whatsoever. I cannot type ANYTHING whatsoever - including Caps Lock, Num Lock - you name it.

The keyboard works fine on Ubuntu (my normal, slightly more tempermental system), and Windows XP and 98 - yes, triple boot system - I know.

I'm mystified. It works just fine on the Boot screen, I can type away quite happily (though have yet to work out the mysterious Graphic options to get anything but 1078-768) but just hit enter at boot: and dead as a dead thing... every time.

Any ideas? I can't even post any blooming logs as I can't hit Ctrl-C etc...
It's not a USB keyboard, just an old Microsoft Multimedia keyboard - but not working AFTER startup is just strange as it works before!

Annoying, as this seems to work really well otherwise - really good latency, etc.

Sounds like something may be wrong with your X-windows configuration. If you are using XFree86 the config file is /etc/X11/XF86config-4. If you are using Xorg I am not sure, but maybe still in /etc/X11.

Can you boot into console mode and have a look? There should be several references to 'keyboard' in there. Is this distro Knoppix based? If so there are various 'cheat codes' you can add at the boot prompt to change behaviour. If its a live CD there is a chance it has not identified the hardware correctly for some reason.

I'm not sure if Dyne:bolic is Knoppix based - it's a little vague on the website (but it's RastaWare! LOL)
I can't get into console mode as it's a live CD - at least I'm not sure how to make it go that way. I see if I can copy/paste using the mouse later on.
I'm fairly familiar with the XFConfig and Xorg files (former Fedora, Mandriva and now Ubuntu user!) so I'll have a gander - if I have to write down the output and post it from my Ubuntu boot so be it!
