No Duel Monitor with nvidia graphics card

im trying to set up duel monitors on ubuntu 12.04 LTS. the second monitor does'nt even get a signal its in sleep mode. The set up works fine on Win-7, im guessing it has something to do with my card because it caused some problems in the past.

You haven't told us which graphics card you're using which would be helpfull, I'm running Ubuntu 10.04LTS which, on installation, told me that there were proprietry drivers available for my Nvidea Graphics card (Can't remember the number off hand.) I loaded the proprietory stuff which allowed me to configure the dual head. Check under system administration or try searching for Nvidea under your package manager.
If you've something against proprietory drivers then, I dunno? They ARE free, just closed source.

Play Bonny! :hattip:

i installed the proprietry drivers from the software center. The card is a galaxy gt610

GT 610 isnt supported by the nvidia closed driver in the 12.04 repos.

12.04 nvidia-current is version 295.40-

http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/nvidia-current

The 1st nVidia closed drivers to support the GT610 is 295.53.

so i wait until the new driver? sorry if thats a silly question.

Ubuntu probably wont give you a newer drivers with 12.04. You'll have to either add a PPA or manually install newer nvidia drviers.

I'm not sure that newer drivers will even fix your problem. They might, but they also might not....
