no display on old monitor with new video card

Hi,

I am not familar with CRT/AGP interface. I have been piecing together a box to install Mandrake 9.0 on. My wife is in love with Bill so every time There is a problem with MicroSucks, Linux will be blamed. This is why the other box.

I have a year old video card that will outut to a newer monitor. When I try to use the same card with my 6-8 year old monitor I do not have any video.

Is the old monitor and new video card just not talking?
If so, my best bet would be to purchase a newer monitor?
An older video card would probably be a waste of my time?

Remember I have no O/S or video display so I can provide no more information.

Thanx

Hello

Well a few questions...

- Did you set in the Bios that the main video interface is the AGP connection?

- Sure your processor is well inserted ?
(if it is not the machime starts but you get no images at all)
(more or less with other pieces, memory, etc)

Sure there are many more questions that can help you to get the right way, but i can't remember now.

But have not to be problems withs your 1 year old card and you 8 years old monitor...

Bye

Good luck

Hi,

Like I said I get no video response unless there is a new monitor present.

When I left the shop and came back home I ensured all devices were seated. One thing I have not tried is putting the new cards into Bill's Box (iam comfortable with my sexuality, so try to see byond the obvious) to determine weather it works or not.

If I place the card in Bill's Box and get not response: I am dealing with an age issue?
