No connecting to new tp-link AC 1300 mini wireless dongle to linux mint 20.3

My 2.4GHz tp-link had no trouble connecting to my router out of the box, but I want to use 5GHz as I have in the past, so I bought a tp-link 1300 for 5GHz connection, but it won't work out of the box, and my driver manager tells me I need no drivers?
I have the new dongle plugged in to the usb 3.0 in the back of the desktop. The 2.4GHz dongle is plugged into the front usb 2.0.
2.4GHz obviously runs fine, but the new 5GHz doesn't show up.

Anyone have a clue? Thanks all.
