According to the logs you shared, you are not using any NV driver.

as I don't see the totality of page in second screen.

To troubleshoot this we need to see Xorg.0.log produced by your current configuration while you are attempting to use the second screen and display something on it that extends beyond its edge(s).

Other example, with a movies in tv (second screen) movie is jerky.

This may be a problem that can be solved only by using the NVidia driver or a PC with more graphics power. Please also provide output from while a movie is being played on the second screen. If it is easier for you, you may attach this output to the head or end of Xorg.0.log before uploading instead of pasting it here.

I think that the response is in these links :

Those point to an ancient bug report whose content is very likely obsolete or deprecated for current kernels and Xorg.

Tested what exactly? What makes you think anything on that 15 year old page will help any part of any current distro release?

Dear, sorry, for my late response.
I don't know.
I'm not comfortable with the command lines,...
On the other hand, I've looked a lot for solutions on the internet, but I'm not good enough to judge if this or that tutorial is obsolete or not.
Most of the time I copy and paste the command lines, either it works or not. I don't necessarily understand what I'm doing even as I try to understand.
I would like that it to work.

Hi mrmazda
so, I restore my initial configuration with timeshift
I verified in the driver manager (sorry it's in french) :
https://zupimages.net/up/20/13/4evg.png
It's marked "xserver-xorg-video-nouveau" and "X.Org Xserver - Nouveau display driver"
In french "nouveau = new"
So for me it was the "nv driver". I didn't know they were two differents things.
This is with the first connection to second screen (hdmi): https://pastebin.com/V40fZFFP
The full screen is more little that tv. But in display options, I separated screen and here The full screen take a full TV.
Here the new file : https://pastebin.com/BsK9e9nb

Two remarks :
_In extended desktop or only on the tv screen (no without laptop screen), when I disconnect, the windows that were in my TV don't automatically transferred to my laptop screen. Is there a solution ?
_With no nvidia driver, so with Pilote X (according to you), I get the feeling that my fan working overtime.
Thank you

The upper listed in the image is the optional non-Free NVidia DDX driver. The lower is the optional FOSS DDX. Neither of these is in current use. As shown by the uploaded logs, the default modesetting DDX driver is in use. It does not appear in the driver list because it can neither be installed nor uninstalled, as it is provided by the X server package. Either optional DDX driver, if installed, and not explicitly overridden by a config file, will override use of the default DDX.

Your grammar and/or word choice makes understanding the message you are trying to convey too difficult for me.
This seems to be the same file, but captured at a later time, after some growth had occurred.

Please always use code tags to preserve output formatting in pasting command output, as you see I have done. Using the [ # ] icon above the input window can assist in doing so.

I believe there should be but I don't know what it might be. Possibly switching away from X and back might help (Ctrl-Alt-F3 then Ctrl-Alt-F7). Possibly disconnect needs to be literal cable disconnect rather than simply powering the external display off.

I don't know what Pilote X is. I expect more heat generation and thus need for more fan flow when the NVidia GPU is in use. It's possible the non-free NVidia driver would be more efficient and thus cause less heat generation.

I had a vaio in the early 2000's. It needed SonyPI to adjust the backlight. Although that never worked for my model at the time. Package sensors-applet seems to have sonypi listed. And some support in mate it seems. Not sure how things have / have not changed in nearly 20 years though.

So, there are 3 drivers.
But as these pictures :
https://zupimages.net/up/20/13/k2e9.png
https://zupimages.net/up/20/13/hkdq.png
When I open my driver management software, the "open-source" driver is already selected and the buttons are grayed out (not selectable)
I can select nvidia driver and the buttons are black (selectable).
For me it's open-source driver that working. But I don't understand all. If you say it's a third driver that works, I believe you.

Sorry, "pilote" is " driver".

So it's best to use nvidia driver, but i have my first problem : no brightness control with (fn+f5/f6) and dashboard and max luminosity.
what should I do?
Hi shadow 7, what can I do with sonypi
Thank you.

Actually there are two others previously unmentioned, but both are crude, optional fallbacks, most often used for repairing broken good ones, or with small volume brands of GPUs that don't have a dedicated driver's or modesetting's support.

There's no need to. In your "new" pastebin link in your comment #21 you can see a large number of lines that include modeset(0):. Those lines are reporting what is happening with the DDX driver in use.
The Mint driver manager is mismanaging. It's purpose is apparently only to let you choose between optional drivers, without mentioning or taking into account the default driver, which cannot be installed or uninstalled without rendering X completely useless, since it non-optionally accompanies the X server.

I'm almost out of ideas. My experience with Vaio laptops is limited to figuring out how to make X work at all. I never touched on the subject of keyboard brightness control while I worked on one.
Last idea: ask in NVidia's own forum for help.

Well 20 years ago it was a executable that you passed parameters to adjust your displays backlight. (but never worked for my model). It had a one line tcl script for a slider to adjust it though. Much like we $( echo ### > /sys/class/backlight/*/brightness ) today to adjust brightness when things like xbacklight fail to do that adjustment. Or whatever slider is in whatever GUI environment (WM/DE) exists.
