If the module your NIC needs is not loaded automatically, then you can just load it manually
As DrEwMoNeY mentioned, it may be that your interface is down, or perhaps DHCP is not running. More importantly though, in order for people to be able to offer suggestions, you will need to provide a lot more information and details about your equipment, what system messages you are seeing, etc. Just mentioning that something isn't working doesn't really give anyone much to go on
