I have a shuttle system with an nforce2 motherboard running Fedora Core 3. I'm trying to set it up to play DVDs, but I'm running into audio issues.
I have DVDs playing successfully with Xine, and I can get stereo sound through the spdif connection, but choosing any surround sound option results in no sound. I'd really like to get the passthrough working, but when I choose this option, I get a "click" when the sound driver initializes, and then no sound.
I know the hardware supports passthough because I installed windows on the machine and was able to get surround sound.
I've tried just about every configuration on the web that involves "nforce2" and "spdif" without any luck. Can anyone shed some light on what I might need to do? I really don't want to reinstall windows just to have surround sound
This is the pertinant part of /etc/alsa/alsa.conf:
Code:
pcm.nforce {
type plug
slave.pcm "spdif"
}
ctl.nforce {
type hw
card 0
}
pcm.!default {
type plug
slave.pcm "nforce"
}
