nforce2 on board lan with redhat 9 won't work

I am currently running a duel boot configureation with win xp on one
side and red hat 9 on the other. I can connect to the internet with my d link ethernet card
but I cant get red hat to activate the on board lan. I downloaded the nvidia drivers and
installed them. Both network devices are listed but when I try to active the on
board lan I get a device doesn't seem to be there, or something like that.
My mother board is a Sloteck sl75frn2.

Where do I begin?

You may need to try out Nvidia nForce drivers fior Linux:

I have the same problem with my onboard lan on an Asus A7N8X.
Some people have got it to work. Others just used a cheap NIC card.
