Unhappy nForce2 Audio

Hey guys,

I had Mandrake 9.1 installed, and the sound worked all fine. But I installed Slackware 9.1 instead (Mandrake is too user-friendly ). Now, I have an nVidia nForce2 chipset, which has onboard sound.
My question is, how can I make my sound work in slack?
I heard a lot of people using OSS instead of ALSA, but how should I do that? And people who have the sound working, complain that only one program can use it at a time. I already tried installing the official nVidia drivers, but the only thing that changed is that it shows lots of errors during boot, so I uninstalled them.

Anyone who can help me? I have kernel 2.4.22.

Cheers and thanx, Dennis

For a overlook about the alsa install have a look here http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml
It's gentoo documentation but the way the kernel has to be compiled and the configuration setup should be about the same.
Forget about OSS for nforce2.
