nForce sound and GART

well, i downloaded the drivers nvidia supplied for the nforce2 chipset and compiled and installed them, but for some reason the sound and the GART arent working, only the network is (THANK GOD)

any ideas? maybe i should try reinstalling them. i installed them as root and installed them from another user's directory. in other words, i was logged in as root, but installed them from /home/user/Desktop

also, should i use the drivers from the ATI site? some ppl said not to use them, so i dont know. i have a radeon 9700 pro

all suggestions welcomed.

got the sound to work. had the driver, just needed to run alsa, lol.

im not sure whether or not the GART is working. im pretty sure that enables my agp 8x.

if it doesnt, i just want to know how i can determine whether or not my vid card is running at 8x.
