Im eagerly awaiting my new linux box, which is coming with the MSI K7N2 Delta-L NFORCE 2 mboard. A few days ago I noticed a few posts stating that the above mentioned hardware is not compatible in linux. However, there never seems to be any resolution to their problems. I have Linux Redhat 9.0 and will be getting the pc in a week or so. Has anyone got any info on how to resolve any compatability issues (if any) or is anyone using the hardware without problems?
I have searched google and the distro's pages but nothing much could be found. If anyone could give me a hand with this one, or maybe point me in the right direction.
I'm using rh9.0 on a Soltek Sl-75MRN (nforce2 m/b) with no problems. If you want to enable the extra features on the m/b such as the lan install the driver available at the www.nvidia.com site
i've been usiong the delta board for a couple of weeks now, been fine.... make sure you use alsa and_intel8x0 for sound though, not the nvaudio offical driver (locked my system solid every single attempt at loading) or the kernel i810_audio modules (very substantial timing issues... recorded mp3 streams at half speed and other curiosities) the nvnet module has been absolutely fine for me though.
My board works fine except the fact that the xserver locks up if you try to use sound with two apps at the same time.
How you install alsa depends on your distro. It is included with most (if not all) distros and some use it by default when up install.
You can worry about that when you get to it.Better get yourself the drivers for nforce from nvidia in case you need the LAN.

I'll try the 2.6.0 kernel today - my system is acting weird anyway.Might as well hose it with a new kernel before I fix it.

The nvaudio driver is only used if you have the nvidia audio chip on your m/b. Most m/b manufacturers dont install the nvidia audio chip instead opt for a cheaper chip such as the intel one. This probably explains why the nvaudio didnt work.
For ALSA since you are running rh you can get the rpms at http://freshrpms.net/ and it's advisable to read the documentation at freshrpms before installing. Also use apt before d/l stuff from the site as it saves a lot time in resovling dependencies.
