I just installed Suse 10.2 liveDVD. Everything runs great but when I scroll up or down (ie. web page or email) it lags bad. Any idea what could be causing this? I am thinking the vid card driver. As I am new to linux I have no idea how to install the driver ATI has on their website. I tried for a couple of hours but no luck. I would like to get into linux but if I cant get rid of this lagging it going to make me go crazy. Thanks for any help.

Also is their dual monitor support for linux on one video card?
That is due either to a setting in your desktop environment or to the fact that you have OpenGL working. I ran into this with SuSE v10.2. I got the screen to update faster by using the generic driver instead of the ATI driver.
The easiest way to fix this is to use a different distribution. I hate to say it but it's true.
If you are using the KDE desktop environment you could try running kcontrol from a terminal window, look around for video effects, and get rid of all of the fancy junk. If you are using the Gnome desktop environment you could run gnome-control-center from a terminal window and then look around for fancy effects and turn them off.
Does YOUR mouse have a scroll wheel? On my system, the scroll bars are slow enough to 'cause hair pulling. My mouse has the wheel enabled during the Distro install <SuSE 10.0>. So the mouse scrolls as fast as I need it to. My Radeon chipset uses the "ati" driver. Looks good to me. The generic driver works too, but the view is less sharp. The VESA driver works for my motherboard as well. The "ati" driver is the preferable way to go.
If you need some tips on installing the proper driver, have a look at the "software section"; I explained it all in a thread called "Suse 10.2 something" - it should still be on the first page.
