newbie: firedtv device on fedora 20

I've connected a firedtv tv tuner box to my fedora 20 machine and I can't tell whether it's ready for use or not, or whether I need to download drivers etc. The firedtv device is a tv tuner using firewire as a connection to the computer and having googled about drivers I get the impression (hope?) that drivers are built in to the latest kernels.
I tailed /var/log/messages as I plugged it in and this is what i got:

if I do # lsmod I get
Quote:

# lsmod
<snip lots of stuff>
firewire_core 62559 2 firedtv,firewire_ohci
crc_itu_t 12613 1 firewire_core
<snip>
there's no indication of a device in /dev/whatever so I'm a bit lost. Thanks for any guidance.

answering my own question here....yes the firedtv is supported on fedora20 and the drivers are bundled in. I installed vlc and tried it, to my surprise it worked and after scanning for channels it suddenly began playing. Just my luck it was the 5 USA shopping channel with a couple of flunkies trying to sell me a food mixer lol.
