Newbie Alert!!! Please help with Ati 9800 pro

hello all i am very new to linux and would like some help if possible

i have installed FC2 on a amd 3000+ with 1 gig ram radeon 9800 pro and asus a7n8x deluxe

i isntalled the new drivers and patched it for xorg

but when i do glxinfo direct rendering is no

ive been search for ever for a solution to this but none have worked

also i get this as well in glxinfo

OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: URL here but dont have 5 posts yet
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.4 Mesa 5.0.2)

acording to some other posts this should be reading ati

any help would be apreciated

I assume this a 2.6.x kernel. If so, make sure you've compiled in the proper drivers for your video card.
