Cool New XFS disk on exisitng Fedora 4

We have important data on a IDE disk which is in XFS format.
When I add this drive to my computer( having Fedora 4 image installed), after adding a line in the fstab file.
While bootup it is hung up in HAL daemon being started, in the
boot sequence. I have seen xfs service started message also.
Please let me know if anyone has encountered similar problem. thanks

I would add the option noauto to the fstab line so it does not automount at this time.
Once system is up mount it and see what happens. Review logs and dmesg after issuing the command and noted any errors or lockups.

There are no services that should be running for the XFS filesystem. The XFS you are talking about is X Font Server. Check through the hal config file. Also read the logs.

I have never encounter any freezing when XFS partitions are mounted. I do not use hal for anything. I either use EXT3 or XFS for any partitions. ReiserFS just gets screws up. All my OS partitiions are formated as XFS.
