Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

New MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 not recognized

I have a dual boot going w/ Windows XP and Open source Suse 10.0. Grub won't recognize this new keyboard. I edited the xorg.conf file in vi. I re-edited the xorg.conf file and it reads like this:
CODE

Section "InputDevice"
Driver "kbd"
Identifier "Keyboard[0]"
Option "Protocol" "Standard"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
EndSection

I also checked the sax2 keyboard configurations and my settings are also saved there to Microsoft Natural USB. I did reboot and grub still won't recognize this keyboard. I have to start Suse with my old keyboard, once I'm in a session I can plug in the new one and use it. I feel like I'm missing a step here. I rebooted. I also tried an adapter but that didn't work. I think I read a thread somewhere that said you have to do something in the BIOS. Does anybody have a suggestion?
