new LUN to Linux Server RHEL 5.5


i have added a new volume, but its not visible on OS and i dont want to reboot the host.

I have googled it but not successful, is there any simple way to solve this.

This works with a new Compellent SAN lun

echo '- - -' >/sys/class/scsi_host/host${HOSTNUM}/scan
Start with
echo'- - -' >/sys/class/scsi_host/host"
...and use tab completion to see host0, host1, I'm guessing your new device will be the largest HOSTNUM but am not sure.
