New keyboard? or edit XF86Config?

Installed RH9 and the keyboard either fails to respond or at seemingly random intervals works but "hangs" about half the time and repeats endlessly.

Keyboard came from gateway and is USB. The keyboard works fine in Windows and dos.

Called Red Hat, they said "maybe" try a new keyboard ( did) OR I could edit the XF86config BUT they don't recomend it. Ha

new to linux need help

Does the keyboard work at the terminal, and not in
xfree, or do you boot with kdm and you don't know?

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
