I am somewhat of a newbie. Definitely when it comes to installing hardware. I need to know how to go about configuring a e1000BP NIC on a REDHAT EL4 system. Ive ran a "make install" from the source directory, and if I utilize ifconfig and assign and IP address to the card, it will then be visible. However, before then it is not visible. How do I change the system so that the card comes up on reboot. After runnig "make install" i still do not see an entry in /etc/sysconfig/network-script for the new card. I created an entry (ifcfg-eth2) but that doesnt seem to do the trick. Help please!!!

A dirty way is to use the custom startup script named rc.local.
But as this script is the last to be launched, maybe services (depending of this NIC) launched before can't be started. So you have to put them again in rc.local.
