New ATI linux drivers?

Just wondering if anyone has tried these new drivers with a 9700/8500 line of radeon cards? What type of performance do you get? Ive been considering trying ATI for awhile but wanted to wait till they got better linux support. So do these new drivers look promising?

Ati Linux Drivers

I have the new Ati drivers installed on my system and everything went fine. I am running a Radeon 8500DV.
As far as performance gains I'm not sure..I'm not aware on how to check.

Linux does come with native drivers that work ok for those cards.

new ati linux drivers

I have a Radeon 9000 Pro and I cannot get the drivers to load correctly. I am curious if the users that have success are running gnmoe or KDE. I am running gnome and I continually have the driver fail during loading. I am running rh8 with stock rh kernel 2.4.18-18.8.0 Any information is greatly appreciated......

I am running KDE there were too many bugs with Gnome....I have used the drivers from Ati and they worked well, even got a nice little gui control panel with the Ati logo..sweet...the gatos project at the sourceforge site also has a set of drivers that should work well...I,m going to try them tonight..I'm not sure what the difference is though.
I also have to try to get the tunner card going in my 8500DV....that should be fun.
