network card installation
I have RH 7.2 running on a PC, I used to use the box as my gateway box (setup by a friend who is away at college), but now I use a small router/hub.
I removed the network cards and now I am putting one of them back in. But am having a hard time configuring the box.
When I boot up I was getting a screen asking about old configuration. I removed with the option button, and I did a hardware find and saved the settings.
When I do a ping from the box, I get a can't find host, but I get that it is sending it from 192.168.0.8
So I think at least the hardware has been found.
How do I procced to get the configuration correct?

Just so I understand you...you put the card back in, booted and in that box you do ping <something> and you get pinging from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx but then host not found?
What does your output from ifconfig say? Do you see anything marked at eth0?

Does it it say host not found or something that mentions ``unreachable'' or similar? If so, it could be that your network settings are not quite right.
Try ``nslookup hostname'' (or ``host hostname'') and see what happens.
Try ``traceroute hostname''. What does that return.

Issuing ``ifconfig'' will tell you that as well. If all it shows is the loopback device then your hardware isn't recognized (yet). But that doesn't appear to be your problem anyway since your 192.168.x.x address shows up in the ping message.
Try those command above and post the results. I think that'll will help a lot.

traceroute shows me 127.0.0.1

Shouldn't that that broadcast address be 192.168.0.255? Hope that's just a typo and not a `paste-oh'. :-)
