Angry Network Card

Hi I am new to Linux my version is SUSE 8.1... My problem is this, everytime i restart the computer the system does not see the internet... I have to go into the control system and reset the card ... I'd like to figure out how to fix things within the basic setup stuff so this will be good place to start... Next after this I will be getting it to see my Creative TV card and then the scroll wheel on my GE mouse.... Any help or a URL referencing my problem would be great... THX ARMY
