netgear FA411


Hi, im a general newb to linux and i just started with slackware. the install went well and i got it running fine, but im having a problem with my netgear FA411 pcmcia ethernet card. i found the redhat driver but it doesnt build right. i heard that it works under slackware, but i cant find any drivers. thanks!

anyone?
i tried adding
if [ -x /etc/rc.d/rc.pcmcia ] ; then
. /etc/rc.d/rc.pcmcia start
fi
to rc.S and it didnt work, with either rc.pcmcia and rc.pcmcia.N.
is there anyone that can help me???

The problem I had with Slackware and that card is wrong settings in my bios. What would happen is that everything would be detected but on configuring the card the machine would crash, it wouldn't even respond to a ctrl+alt+del. If this is your problem try making sure that there are no irq conflicts and that you have selected card bus in your bios. See if that helps

Do you hear any beeps when you insert the card telling you that it has been configured? One thing you could do that saved me alot of configuration trouble is boot slackware from the cd, login as root, type "pcmcia" to enable the cardmgr. Go into set up set your target partition then exit and go into configuration, and reconfigure your network card, when it asks to probe for a network card select yes and it should find it. I'm not sure how to do it any other way.
