Thumbs down Net. Issues w/ RH 9 - HELP!

the motherboard is an abit nf7-s with an nforce2 chipset which i want to use the onboard network

ok. i got red hat 9 installed and installed the nforce drivers (NVIDIA_nforce-1.0-0261.rh90up_2.4.20_6.athlon.rpm). i used the red hat built in rpm installer thing to do it. it now shows nvnet as a network device however whenever i try to activate the connection it says:
"nvnet device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization"
i restarted it and it still gave that message.

i'm not good with these rpms yet and cannot use linux untill i get networking with it. thanks for the help.

Make sure you have your linux kernel source installed first, before you install Nvidia's or any other kernel level drivers. Having just the binary precompiled kernel is not enough.

I am having the same problem, but I'm using the ASUS A7N8X deluxe board. It's picking up my 3com, but I can't get it to work either, much less the onboard nvidia NIC.
