neomagic magicmedia gateway solo soundcard problem
I have been trying everything to get my neomagic magicmedia 256 soundcard 2 work on my gateway solo laptop, but nothing seems to work, i always get the error:
[root@x1-6-00-c0-0c-02-28-f3 root]# modprobe nm256_audio
/lib/modules/2.4.20-6/kernel/drivers/sound/nm256_audio.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.20-6/kernel/drivers/sound/nm256_audio.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-6/kernel/drivers/sound/nm256_audio.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20-6/kernel/drivers/sound/nm256_audio.o: insmod nm256_audio failed
if i use sndconfig i get that error
if i use the alsa drivers, i get that error.
if i use the ./alsaconf file, it doesnt find the soundcard.
if i try 2 modprobe/insmod another sound driver (opl3sa2), i get that error.
ive tried everything, and IRQ 5 and 7 are both empty, yet i still get that error.
i have posted this message at justlinux.com as well, so PLEASE take a look at it and try to help, so far they have not been able to fix the problem (although they have tried a lot of ideas), but i am hoping that someone heremight know. please check it and try 2 help: what is this it wount let me post a url?!?! ok well if u get the change to check out justlinux forums, my post is of the same name under hardware. when i get 5 posts i will immediately post the link, or if someone can do it for me that would b great cuz a lot of information is there that it would b annoying 2 just like copy and paste.
