Need Your Opinion About This Beautiful Case!

hello Guys !

i decided to make the HTPC System and i need this beautiful case , this product is made under the kickstarter program .

the system is there :

Case= DUNE CASE

main = GIGABYTE GA-Z170N-WIFI

cpu = intel i5 6600k

Memory = G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200)

Power Supply = SFX Athena Power AP-MP4ATX60FEP8 600W

SSD= SAMSUNG 850 EVO M.2 500GB

right the money is not issue just i want to hear your opinion about the CASE and body style .

how do you think about that ?

It's good to see someone has actually thought about case design! If this is a success, then case manufacturers will actually be doing their job and making better cases.
Their website says it's only available for pre-order. The unit will be shipping in July 2016. You could wait until after July to see what builds people have made and if there are any problems with the kit.
For the same price, the SilverStone SST-CS01S-HS can have upto 8 SSD hard drives. It's also got a steel interior with an aluminium exterior and is twice as heavy (sturdy).
The dune has usb ports on the back - so if you have a usb mouse and keyboard will the signal be lost if the usb receiver is on the back?
You may be better off getting 2X250gb SSDs rather than 1X500gb. If the controller dies or there’s a problem with the drive, then you'll always have the second drive left which has backed up data.

thank you buddy
im respect to your answer but im disagree about silverstone case . it is cube and i dont like that :D
i want cylandric case but there is not better than dune case
i searched meny time and it is all the way :)
how about the cooling ? is it good for keep cooling the i5?

I'll wait until after July to see if I should get one too.
The dune has a built-in fan at the top which seems to be the full diameter of the case. So that's a big fan.
The YT video at 3:40 says 'no additional cooling required'. So I think a standard cpu fan should be ok. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQF574owmCM

Kind of hard to loose the screws in the corner. :)

i dont think so i suggest you to check the website and you see how they fix that :D
its incredible in the one word :D

So the dune case is using the design concept of Apple's Mac Pro. But whereas the Pro is $3,330, the dune case can have an affordable home build.

The back of the case has four USB 3.0 ports. So presumably those ports will have wire connectors which plug into the USB sockets of the mini-ITX motherboard.
If a manufacturer makes a mini-ITX motherboard specifically for the dune case, then there won't be a need for long wire connectors. This will create more space and increase cooling.

If the case sells like hotcakes, then the custom ITX board should also sell like hotcakes!

(I respect your option but I still disagree, the case is cubed shape and I prefer the cylinder shape. Because it looks soooo much coooler!!!! then that plain ole box look.)

that is nothing a blow torch and BFH (big F**king Hammer) can't fix.

Hmmm... If money is no issue, the opposition already has a product.

I have to agree though, the case is magic! (Scottish for aesthetically pleasing to the eye - among other things, see also braw, bonny and smert.)

Play Bonny!

I don't get it. It seems to be a Mac copy. They talk about it being small but that's nonsense -- a cylinder will occupy a larger volume than a cuboid.
Looks cool, I suppose, but it's just a mini-ITX case that takes up more room and may work better.

It's a Kickstarter project and hasn't gained full backing yet. It's raised half of its £130K budget and has only 19 days to go. So it might not work out.

I read somewhere that ITX boards are popular in China because they're much cheaper to produce than the larger ATX boards. Of all the PCs I've had, I've never expanded them. I just bought a completely new setup after 6-8 years. If most people are like that, then tiny ITX boards are probably better for the planet.

OK, so ITX boards make more sense, that still doesn't explain why putting one in a case which uses more space is a better plan? Their argument is that it's better because it "is smaller" yet they're comparing it to a standard ITX case.
Just looks like a smaller Mac rip-off to me and I don't really see the advantages of the Mac design though I will admit it looks nice and likely works.

The cylinder is a better design for cooling hardware. Warm air rises. So it's best to draw in cool air from the bottom and extract it out the top. Also, keeping an empty core free of cables means the warm air is completely extracted. At least, that's what the Apple engineers seem to be thinking from looking at the Mac Pro.
Rectangle cases pushes the air horizontally which possibly leaves a warm area at the top (unless there are vent holes on the top of the case). Also mad cabling everywhere obstructs air flow and will cause hotspots.

So when Apple came out with their ludicrous $3000 design, you'd expect all the other players to offer cylinder cases for $500, wouldn't you?
But there is nothing. All cases are rectangles. No-one will dare to use a simple design principle in case they get killed by a monster fruit. There aren't even knock-offs in China where Iphone replicas are all over the place.

So it seems the dune case is taking on the giant by proving common-sense can't be patented. People don't have to lose out because they don't have $3000. The legal position dune is making is the cylinder is a case - it's not a computer (the Mac Pro is a cylinder and a computer). So far, it seems to be working. But it's a Kickstarter project, community-driven. Hopefully, it'll work (although raising $60K in 19 days looks bleak).
