Need To Replace Video Card
My AGP video card has died on my Linux server and I need to get it out for warranty but have a old Nvidia PCI video card. I don't use a GUI on my Linux server. What would happen if I just swapped out my Nvidia 5900XT for a Nvidia PCI video card. Will I need to make config changes since I do not use a GUI and the system just loads the default drivers to get CLI running.
Code:
stricom:/etc/X11# ls |
It shouldn't make a difference. Depending on your distro in terms of whether it runs hardware detection on each boot, it might be a bit slower booting up the first time, but then should simply drop to a console login and be none the wiser. If it does try to load an x-server, it will simply fail and drop you back to the console anyways, but you might want to change the default runlevel in that case.

There is no x-server so it boots right up to CLI anyway.
