Need to plug out and in wifi dongle at every boot to get detected

Hello,

I just bought a Belkin F7D2101 USB Wifi N dongle, it works great, but every time I start my computer, it's not detected. At least, my network applet shows no network adapter. I have to unplug and plug it back in on another USB port to get detected. Then, my network dæmon automatically connects to my wifi network. Do you know why this happens and what I can do about it?
Thanks,

I had similar problems (with a Novatel thingie) that were solved with USB_ModeSwitch http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. Seems a little complicated, though...

It's not that complicated -- you pretty much install it, reboot, and it figures out what you've got and just more or less works (unplug the modem before you reboot, then plug it in when things settle down). By the way, the software may -- may -- already be installed on your system or you can get it from whatever that Ubuntu get software thing is (Yum? I dunno).

These USB Wi-Fi things can be a little tricky and, sometimes, you just have to unplug it, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. Seems to be the Nature of the Beast. I found it better to shut down, pull the modem and the next time I booted plug the modem in after everything settles; USB_ModeSwith takes care of setting things up when the modem is plugged in.

And, what the heck, you may just be able to leave it in the USB port and it'll work! Wouldn't that be nice, eh?

Hope this helps some.

Thanks. Two things:
- Yesterday night I found out that USB_ModeSwitch is already installed by default on Ubuntu;
- Today, when I turnt on my computer, it connected right away to my WLAN.
Go figure :)
Thanks
