Need to get 1440 x 900

I bought a Widescreen monitor, its a Viewsonic VG1921wm and VC is ATI Radeon 9500 NP 128 MB

I just cant get to work properly, im using latest ati drivers, 8.31.5

Here's my xorg.conf

Not a wide screen user but I would Change this section to this.
Depth 24
Modes "1440x900" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

And for here raise from 50 to say 67.0. But I would verify the monitor specs first.
HorizSync 31.5 - 67.0

Restart X and see if that works. The HorizSync may need to be a bit higher. Again verify monitor specs.

Question. Not kept up on ATI but I thought the driver that is loaded in xorg.conf was fglrx or something similiar. Is the new name glx now?

Took a second look it looks like you are use the vesa driver. Is this because the ati driver not working? Did it work with your older monitor?

So, you need:

VertRefresh 56-75

in your xorg.conf

At least that's a start.

I don't see a "Load 'flgrx'" anywhere in that conf, and flgrx is the ATI driver... looks like you're using generic drivers that suck.

The 60hz is normal for flat screen lcd monitors. Some may support up to 72hz. Here is veiwsonics spec showing your resolution at 60hz. http://www.viewsoniceurope.com/UK/Pr...21wm.htm#specs

What did you do to get it configured. Post your xorg.conf for others to learn from.
