Need to ged rid of Dynamic Drive Overlay :<

I have an old 15 GB IBM hard drive which was used in an old computer
before and therefore it has some Dynamic Drive Overlay installed on itself (it enables to use full capacity in computers which bios cant handle it). I dont have original installation disk for this software so I cant remove it in "normal" way.

How can I get rid of this thing? I tried to boot from W95 diskette and run "fdisk /mbr" but It doesnt help.

Thx in advance

You can try this to wipe out the DDO:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=512 count=1

I booted from Slackware CD and tried this command and got this message:

root@slackware:/# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=512 count=1
1+0 records in
1+0 records out

But DDO is still there

PS: Yes, my hard drive is hda :)

Edit: This computer cant see full capacity of the disk either(its an old pentium 150). Could the problem with removing be caused by the fact that when i boot w95 it can see only 8 GB? When I boot from the linux CD I can use full capacity though. Anyway I ll try to erase hdd's mbr from my desktop when I get to it on sunday.

The reason W95 can only see 8GB is due to your motherboard BIOS being so old.
linux reads the info from the drive itself and does not rely on the BIOS.

Actually, I didn't think it would work. I will keep looking.

It seems that I have just fixed it, drove to the office and used "fdisk /mbr" on the computer which was able to see whole capacity and it really erased MBR this time.

Thanks for your help
