Need Recommendations: B/W laser printer, fully compatible with CUPS
Dear all,
I would appreciate recommendations on a compact B/W laser printer which works perfectly with CUPS (this is crucial) and has the following features:
* can print on B5, ideally in duplex as well
* reasonably fast: I will be printing B/W PDFs with lots of text & graphics
I expect to be printing 50-100 pages a week.
Cheers,
Mike.

I think most of the mainstream Laser printers are now well-supported on Linux.
You can see what models are supported in your installation by simply installing a dummy queue (use the parallel port, eg) and then browse thru the various models/drivers offered.
Alternatively, search in /usr/share for a ppd file matching a particular model number. Here is an example based on my HP LaserJet 1022:
Code:
find . -name "*1022*ppd*"
./ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1022nw-hpijs-zjs.ppd.gz
./ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1022nw-hpijs-pcl3.ppd.gz
./ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1022-hpijs-zjs.ppd.gz
./ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1022n-hpijs-pcl3.ppd.gz
./ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1022-hpijs-pcl3.ppd.gz
./ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1022n-hpijs-zjs.ppd.gz
./cups/model/C/stp-ricoh-afc_1022.5.2.ppd.gz
./cups/model/C/stp-hp-lj_1022.5.2.ppd.gz
./foomatic/db/source/PPD/Ricoh/PXL/Ricoh-Aficio_1022_PXL.ppd.gz
./foomatic/db/source/PPD/Ricoh/PS/Ricoh-Aficio_1022_PS.ppd.gz

PS:
HP would be my first choice. They officially support Linux, and they are a big player in Laser printers.

I'm putting in a shout for Samsung Laserjet printers.
Linux Drivers available. Work with CUPS.
I've used the following models all with success and good use:
ML-2010
ML-2510
ML-2525
ML-3050
ML-4050
