need help with video card
 

i have an amd athlon processor @ 2ghz, with 1.25 gb of ddr ram, 111gb hard drive, it runs fast, i have installed suse linux 10, ..i have probs with my video card, it is
nvidia geforce 5500 fx, it is an agp 8x video card, When i try to run a game it says no 3d acceleration supported in the video card or 3d accelleration is not enabled,,, i tried to enable 3d accelleration in sax2 but it won't let me, i tried the nvidia website, but when i try to download the drivers and software for it, the file opens up in a text file

the default drivers that came with the suse linux disk are loaded.

are you sure you're downloading the proper file? perhaps you only saved the webpage file.

on download the file should be shown as 12MB in size. also the file's a shell script and it's executable so after downloading run ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8774-pkg1.run.

Edit: OR perhaps 'bash NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8774-pkg1.run'

like 2 minutes after i posted this thread if figured it out, (unlike windows, when you update your machine, like the drivers, it don't do sh*t for you), but on the otherhand linux does work, (which is a good thing), i have enabled 3d acceleration and it works really great. I really didn't think using suse watcher update would "fix" the problem, well just as long as the video card works. and lucky for us, linux can automatically update device drivers, windows don't do it that good
