I have installed Linux 7.1 in my PIV machine which has 256MB of Ram. My motherboard is Intel 845GL chipset. It comes with inbuilt dispaly adapter. I tried to configure the Xserver through the Xconfigurator. But it always gives fatal error. Can some one help me to solve this problem.

From what I understand of the 845gl chipset, there is quite a bit of wonkiness to it that is just now getting supported properly in the 2.4.20 kernel, due out shortly. Unfortunately, and I hope that by 7.1 you meant RedHat 7.1, you're 2 versions behind, and even the current RH7.3 won't cover that graphics card right.

If you've got one, it would probably be much easier to swap in a different AGP card until RedHat 8.0 comes out, which should have the problem sorted. Otherwise, if you are feeling courageous, you can download 2.4.19 and patch it up to 2.4.20-pre7 and try that out...

Hi -- Anybody having any luck with RH 8.0 on this? I haven't....
