need help installing scanner in pclinuxos
i have a canon canoscan fb620u and according to the setup toll it says that it isn't supported, how do i install it anyway i want to be able to scan pictures and stuff without having to boot into windows to do so, where can i find the drivers and how do i install them

I think you may be out of luck. The Canon company is not, apparently, cooperative with Linux developers (see Notes on developing drivers for sane-canon630u.) The only thing I can suggest is for you to install xsane, and run it, and see. You could also try, in your terminal, running the command "sane-find-scanner" (after you've installed xsane). Maybe it will work.

just installed xsane and still no luck (either that or i don't know what i'm doing)

Maybe running the command "sane-fine-scanner" (without quotes) as root would work. Admittedly, I doubt it, but never hurts to try. If it does find your scanner, then you could fix up stuff to get it working with the regular user.

is it a good idea to install windows xp in virtualbox and give it access to my usb hardware (i don't know how to do that but it doesn't hurt to try, maybe this virtualbox idea could help with my lexmark too)
