hoi
no i do not think u can use that for u distro becasue the driver is compiled for a diferent linux kernel
i too have seen this, where my modem used to work on kernel from rh 7.2 and below,so i installed that kernel in to my RH 9.0 and it worked
i haven't done so in FC2

try to get the source for ur driver ,see at linmodem.org more more info

Dear Gaurav
thanx for your reply
I have loaded the driver files succesfully. But when dialing through KPPP it says error message as "No Carrier" . Please Help in this matter

ps: i have loaded both the driver files i.e pctel and ptserial. When i loaded first driver kppp couldn't detect modem. so i have loaded the ptserial file.

WIth regards
gopinath

hi thee
go to ur kppp
in that there is a option of query modem
se what results do u get there

post them here
also
when do u get the no carrier message ???
at the start or when it tries u to log onto network..
this generally happens due to "ppp"

also try the connection for 3-4 times and see what erors do u get

hi
try changing the phone no. and se for the connections
because it is finding any reponse from the opposite side

do u hear the modem,do u hear when it dials up and the other side responds to, for this check the volume control in the kppp setup also see if u have setup"wait for dial tone"
uncheck this option

regards
