Need help enabling DRI on Radeon 9000 IGP

I honestly have no idea where to beging on this. glxinfo gives me:
direct rendering: No so it is my goal to enable it. ATI doesnt seem to provide any laptop drivers, they say to check the manufacturer's website. There are no linux drivers on Toshiba's site either. I compiled the radeon drivers into the kernel and I load the dri module in my xorg.conf files but I don't get 3d acceleration.
