Need help choosing a TV Capture Card for linux
Hello there,
I have an old wintv GO TV card from Hauppauge . I had this card since the 90s along with the computer it is currently in. I am planning to buy a new computer soon. Some of these new motherboards don't have any PCI slots or in some occasion only one. I may need to buy a new TV Capture card. Do any of you know or use a TV card that uses the PCI Express x1 slot or a USB TV tuner that works in linux? Thanks for any feedback. |

You'll probably want to research a little the device you wish to buy. |
I bought a silicon dust product. It is a networked device. Costs a bit more but works on almost everything and has the best reception so far. Still not as good as a tv however but way better than the usb tuners.

Thanks for the replies.
Before I posted my question, I did search LQ's HCL. Most of the TV capture cards listed are outdated. They're probably found at ebay. @jefro The silicon Dust HDHomeRun Dual Digital Tuner works with linux, but it needs some type of media center like MythTV as the website says. Anyway, I know I can find new desktops with at least one PCI bus. And continue to use my old and trusted Wintv GO TV card. Thanks again for the replies. |
Every tv device needs some way to use it. Silicondust supports almost everything out there.
They still make motherboard with pci. |
