need an ALSA equalizer

An important relevant message:
I can't use JACK for what I am doing.
I need something that will represent itself as my default ALSA device (I already have dmix) so all my programs use the same optimal equalization.
So my idea is that the equalizer should be an ALSA plugin, just like dmix and the configuration would go into the .asoundrc file to have dmix pipe it into the equalizer and then into the device.
Anyone know of such thing?
