Need advice on what notebook to purchase
I am using Lenovo ThinkPad, it is zero effort to install Ubuntu dualboot with Win7, and I can simply remove all Linux partition and install a new release, everything works without touching Windows. Now I want to purchase a new notebook, wonder if the Win8 models still so Linux friendly, and what about Toshiba and Fujitse, which model(s) best for dualboot ?
Almost all new notebooks will that come with W8 will also come with UEFI, a replacement for BIOS. See this link. -->http://www.uefi.org/home/
If the disk is larger than 2 T bytes, it will have GPT partitions.
Be warned, this takes a lot of effort to install Linux along side of W8. You can thank the B Gates and Co. for that. Look at the forum, there are a lot of threads on this topic.
If you have to have W8, buy a system with it, and use the older laptop for linux.
Some new systems can be set up with linux in 'compatibility mode' on the UEFI. If you are going to wipe W8, then this is an option. Do your research before you buy.
