Need A Reply >>>>please? >>>PROB WITH DUAL VID CARDS
I have posted this before with no response:
I have the following hardware: Asus A7N8X - Deluxe AGP Radeon 9500 pro PCI Radeon 9200 SE I am running FC1. now I am currently running the system with the 9500 pro and it has all the 3D stuff working great. I want to run dual monitors and have had a few attempts at this with the following results: Running just the AGP 9500pro in the system, I get the PCI BUS ID = 3:0:0 or 3:0:1 (b/c of the DVI port) Running just the PCI 9200 SE in the system, I get the PCI BUS ID = 1:8:0 or 1:8:1 (b/c of the DVI port) both of these cards support two monitors each, but I am interested in 1 monitor per card on the standard vga port. When I leave the PCI and AGP cards in the system at the same time --- and boot with AGP set in the bios, as well as the XF86Config written for the AGP 9500pro, as is well in my linux universe. The computer boots and I am typing with it right now. but with the PCI set in the bios, the XF86Config (or XF86Config-4) set for the PCI 9200SE, my linux universe collapses to a big black hole....as the screen for that card stays blank (this result is the same even if I try the bios setting on AGP or PCI). This card works however in when the AGP card is not in the system. I really really want to set up these dual monitors (BTW I am trying to run dual head for the setup)......so if someone could give me a hand getting these two blasted cards to like each other....It would be awesome.... Thanks, DH |
LOL, using both cards at the same time IS going to cause problems........you may need to get ONE card that supports 2 monitors rather than trying to get 2 cards to work like this.

Doesn't your 9500 Pro have two outputs?
My 9000 has a VGA output and a DVI output - that way I can have two monitors, using a converter from DVI --> VGA Steve |
It does have two outputs, but I get strange things happening with that ....for example
if I move a link on the desktop on the secondary monitor....it will dissappear.... if I then reboot, the icon will appear on the primary screen - behind all the other icons. if I log off and then log back on the icons on the primary will appear on both the seconday (but none of the secondary's icons show up) and the primary. this is all very annoying! and I happen to just have the PCI card sitting around...sooo....I figured I could get it working.... and apparently one can...but not with the fglrx drivers for the PCI.....one must use the radeon drivers supplied with XFree86. if you know of a fix for any of the odd behaviour that would be great and then I wouldn't need to toy with the PCI card.
