ndiswrapper wireless install help please

Hello everyone:
I am using Fedora Core 3 Test 2 on a sony notebook. I have the intel 2200bg
wireless card. I have just setup the wireless card using the ndiswrapper 0.7
(all higher versions will not work on my machine) package from sourceforge.
I follow the INSTALL instructions to the letter and everything seems to go
well. The windows drivers load fine, dmesg produces the correct output and
so does iwconfig. I loaded the driver (ndiswrapper wlan0) into the "network"
menu. BUT when I go to the network menu and highlight the wireless card and
click "activate" I get the following error:

cannot parse MAC `wlan0' at argument 2

Errors cannot get any more ambiguous than this, I am at a total loss of
resourses here. This error keeps coming and scrolls through the window until
I click cancel and it will not connect to the internet (or AP for that
matter). I managed to get this far googling every time I got stuck but for
this error I do not get anything relevant. Any ideas?

Now I noticed that the settings dissapear after I reboot, even though I did execute the command "modprobe -m" to commit to the settings. iwconfig and ifconfig revert to their previous state before the install, but the card still shows up under "network", if I activate it from there it activates but no connection. Can anyone please tell me what am I doing wrong? What other info would be useful to help me resolve this issue?

Please help,
Thanks in advance

Try using

iwconfig wlan0 essid xxxxx

where xxxxx is the ssid of your WAP

in your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0 file, try doing onBOOT=yes.
