Ndiswrapper installed driver installed, hardware present, but modprobe doesn't likeit

HI guys,

I am running Fedora COre 4 on a Sony VAIO laptop and today i decided to install ndiswrapper. now this worked fine.
I installed the inf driver for my card and that was fine
Symbolic link worked nicely:

ln -s usr/src/redhat /lib/modules/2.6.11-1.1369_FC4/build

Installed ndis drivers when doing ndiswrapper -l :
bcmwl5 driver present, hardware present

then i decided to modprobe ndiswrapper to start up the driver, so i did dmesg to check the modprobe logs.

and i got this error:

ndiswrapper (ndiswrapper_load_driver:93): loadndiswrapper failed (65280); check system log for messages from 'loadndisdriver'

but the drive is present, as ndiswrapper says it is.

So i checked the logs.

Aug 4 17:29:49 localhost loadndisdriver: loadndisdriver: load_driver(333): coudln't find valid drivers files for driver bcmwl5

so im confused now as to what i should do.l

Any help would be greatly appreciated, oh yes and im a noob to linux.

Thanks again.

wmp54gx no go 64bit

I have been extensively banging away at this card under Mepis 6.5
64bit version, and it looks like the reason ndiswrapper won't work
with it is because the kernel in this implimentation is -smp
I am determined to get some card working with this machine
an amd64 emachine with 1gig of ram, even if I have to reload
the 32bit version of the new Mepis release. Will let ya'll know
how I got there once I do. After reading through at least 200+
messages in every forum ever was...it is evident that no one and I
mean no one is using a Linksys wmp54gx under any 64bit os.
