names of all block devices, web links if possible.

for reference I was wondering if someone has a link or knows the name of all block devices in linux, as well as xfree (if theres a difference), and grub.
mostly though I need xfree, but I guess other newbees might benefit from a reference.
ps: ie : serial port is = , primary hardrive=hda (add 1's for partitions), cdrom = , usb= ,.

ie grub: hda =(hd0,0), mbr=(hd0)

pss:those are just some examples of the type of thing im interested in seeing.
