my printer (dell 962) not communicating

Just bought a new laptop (sony vaio) with vista. went to try and install my dell 962 all in one. windows found it and installed it successfully so of I go and start to print, and all i get is a message that tells me cannot communicate with computer. I have tried all the self help suggestions ie removed usb cable and replug. remove power cable on printer and reconnect reboot computer and also turn off firewall as it said it maybe not allowing the printer access to the computer. The printer is one that I have been using with no problems on my desktop (Dell) which I bought about three years ago. Bough the whole lot as a complete set up directly from Dell. I hope I have given enough info cheers

My advice would be to rip out Vista and switch to linux. My question would be why are you writing to LinuxQuestions.org about a problem with Vista? If you install linux, then we could help you with any problems you might have.
Cheers, and courage (you'll need it)
